Purpose

At Compass Dance Academy we strive to serve all the different individuals that come to dance with us, whether an adult that just wants to move and enjoy dancing for God or a little child that dreams of becoming a ballerina. We want to offer this place to anyone that has a desire to dance and wants to learn how to use it for God’s Kingdom. As the studio has grown, we have noticed that some children who dance with us have a deep desire and passion to grow in their gift and it is for these students we offer our ensemble groups.  We are forming these groups for those students and families that can and want to fit this into their life because their child has a deep desire to learn and dance as much as possible.

What will the Ensemble groups do?

The Ensemble groups will dance annually in the spring concert along with the rest of the Compass Dance Academy students; however, in addition to that the ensemble groups will have two additional opportunities to dance in local venues in order to promote missions. These performances will happen yearly in December and April.  This is a great opportunity for us to work with these dancers and help them see the connection between dance and the Kingdom of God. We won’t sell tickets for these concerts, but we will ask for a love offering. This love offering will either support Dancelink or another OM mission’s project that God lays on our hearts. As we pray and God directs, other dance opportunities for the ensemble members might come up such as Tyrone Founder’s Day, church events, or other festivals. We pray that God will open the doors for these dancers to start outreaching right here in the community.

How do I get involved?

If your child is interested, please speak to Sara or Linda in person. We will then either evaluate the student ourselves or have the student’s teacher do the evaluation. We don’t like the idea of an audition, so we would like to quietly know of the student’s interest and then without drawing attention evaluate the student. If we say no, we promise to explain the reason. Maybe your child isn’t quite old enough, or hasn’t had enough time in the dance studio taking classes, or we have too many students signed up and have reached our capacity. We will let you know, but please know your child’s heart is our first priority.
