Olivia Jenkins - Teacher
Olivia grew up in Sharpsburg, Georgia and began dancing at the age of 3. She began her preprofessional career as a dancer with The Georgia Youth Ballet under the direction of Magdalena Murry and Jonsie Pollock. Here she participated in Regional Dance America’s south east festival SERBA, studied ballet, pointe, jazz, and modern/contemporary, and performed classical ballets including; The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Paquita, and many more.
After high school, Olivia studied at Kennesaw State University in the beginning stages of their dance department. After discovering her true love of modern, Olivia moved to Houston, TX to dance for the Ad Deum II Dance Company. During her three years with the company, Olivia earned the title of associate director of ADII, traveled the globe on mission trips, choreographed, and led the SERVE Tour in 2017.
She quickly discovered her passion for teaching and choreography in college when she began teaching at Into the Light Ballet in 2012. In Houston, Olivia worked as a head ballet and pointe instructor at Elite Dance Academy, a competition studio south of the city. While at Elite, Olivia was honored to participate as a Youth America Grand Prix coach, set works to be competed in competitions and conventions, and set a foundation for dancers to continue in professional and preprofessional careers.
Olivia strives to keep a light and fun atmosphere while teaching technique classes. She focuses on proper placement, muscle structure, self-awareness of body, and a positive mindset on individual growth. Olivia strongly believes a dancer should work to progress, not to make something perfect. She is incredibly passionate about merging the line between technical excellence and worship/spiritual warfare through a professional outlook in the studio.
